Key skills qualifications cover the extra skills that are valuable in helping you carry out your job to a professional standard.

These include Communication, both written and spoken; Application of Number, using numbers in measurement, calculation and pricing; and information and Communication Technology, better known as ICT, which covers useful workplace computer skills.


Like NVQ's, Key Skills qualifications form an essential part of the training required to achieve an Apprenticeship.


Who are Key Skills courses suited to?

  • Those who are undertaking an Apprenticeship that has a Key Skills qualification requirement

How do you achieve Key Skills qualifications?

  • You gain the qualifications on a full or part-time basis with System Training
  • Through additional training if necessary, with an on-line assessment programme
  • The standards required to gain a Key Skills qualification typically take an academic year to achieve
