Eddie Stobart Apprenticeship Programme

Tuesday, 17 January 2012 | Added by Stephanie Norman |

System Training has partnered with Eddie Stobart to create a bespoke apprenticeship programme. The programme started in August 2011 and the success of the first cohort has allowed us to offer many more hopefuls the opportunity to join us.

Together with Eddie Stobart, we will be recruiting throughout 2012. Ideal candidates will have a passion for driving – as the course will lead you to a life on the road.

Once your application has been submitted and processed, all potential candidates will be informed and asked along to an assessment day. The assessment day will involve a one to one interview and the outcome of that will enable the selection process to begin.

Candidates that succeed at this stage will then attend a one week selection period held at Eddie Stobart's Training Academy in Widnes. Here all candidates will participate in:

  • Practical activities
  • Work based classroom activities
  • Simulator driving
  • Driver shadowing – experiencing the life of an Eddie Stobart driver

After the assessment week, the final 8 will be selected to begin their training. Those that are not selected at this time may have the opportunity to re-apply for the next cohort.

Apprenticeship Fact File:

  • All applicants must be aged 18 at the start of the programme
  • All applicants must hold a valid car licence with no more than 3 points
  • All applicants must have their own transport to be able to attend work shadowing in depots
  • Training is at no cost to yourselves – all training is funded through a government programme
  • Training will run for 26 weeks
  • Training is based in Widnes WA8 8TZ
  • Apprentices will be paid £95 per week
