Introduction

The A1 Assessor course is designed for candidates who are planning to deliver S / NVQ’s within their chosen sector.

2. Aims                     

The course aims to provide candidates with the knowledge, training techniques and reporting systems to deliver the qualification.

3. Objectives           

At the end of the course candidates will have a clear understanding of NVQ’s and the process taken to complete the qualification. You will also be given all of the information on the administrative procedures and evidence required, along with reaching assessment decisions.

4. Pre-course activity

4.1 Study modules

Day 1              An overview of the A1 qualification and the role of an Assessor

Day 2              This is specific to the industry that you are working in.

5.  Course Content (2 days)

5.1 Theoretical Element

Subjects Include:      

·        Assessing candidates against agreed standards of competence using a range of assessment methods

·        Giving candidates on your assessment decisions

·        Contributing to the internal quality assurance processes

6.  Additional Information and pricing

The course is classroom based however ongoing support and coaching is required prior to full qualifications.

Activities that you will be involved in include the following:

·        developing realistic plans for learning and assessment with candidates

·        understanding assessment requirements

·        planning the assessment process with candidates

·        helping candidates to meet the agreed assessment requirements

·        reviewing the candidate’s level of competence and identifying what they need to do to be fully competent

·        supporting candidates with different needs during your assessment

·        using a variety of assessment methods

·        making a record of your assessment decisions

·        giving candidates feedback on their performance and reviewing their progress throughout the assessment process

·        using different types of evidence to give an overall assessment of competence

·        working with other people who will be involved in the assessment process, such as workplace supervisors teachers or trainer

 7. Further training

Upon completion of your A1 Assessor award, you can move onto taking the V1 level 4 Internal Verifiers awards. This qualifies you to become an Internal Verifier within your company.
